The History of our Church
Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church was established by a small group of believers from Centerfork Missionary Baptist Church in 1963. Brother Clifford Mann donated the land where PHMBC stands today. Members agreed to name the church Pleasant Hill Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
The original church was a 36 x 60-foot building with a 36 x 20-foot basement. By the spring of 1964, the building was housing church services.
In 2003, members voted to add on almost 10,000 square feet to the original building. The new addition offered a substantially larger fellowship hall, new classrooms, a gymnasium and a new sanctuary.
We are convinced that God has a special plan for our fellowship. We are grateful for our past and excited about the future. We love the Lord here and we love people. We are submissive to God’s Word and authority. We seek only to bring Him honor. Our first concern is: What does God want?
We believe the church is the vehicle by which God intends to accomplish His work in this world. It is within the context of the local church that we can realize and use our specific gifts. We want to be a church where God’s children can discover their spiritual gifts, be trained in the use of their gift(s) and be given the opportunity to minister through their gift(s).
